The husband and I do a good bit of cycling, so I thought he needed some nice socks for the bike riding. I don't think they've been worn, but they are pretty and made of Koigu.
My first real attempt at crocheting, a dishcloth. I now have the Debbie Stoller Crochet book, so there will hopefully be more crochet in the future.
It's hard for me to think of things to knit for baby boys, so I made this baby burp cloth for my friend's newest addition, Brody, and sent it along with a couple of cute outfits.
This is my first felted tote made for my friend Missy in the colors of our alma mater (go bearkats!). She loved it and I'm still very fond of it myself. It's made with Cascade 220 and the Two Old Bags Felted Tote pattern, both of which you can purchase from www.threadbearfiberarts.com.
I made this for my in-laws last Christmas. It was my first knitting project and it may be my last afghan; it was a lot of work! But it was all worth it in the end. :-)
This is the second felted tote I've made. It was for my mom for Mother's Day and she loved it. She taught me how to knit so I thought it was fitting to give her a knitted object. This is the picture of it before it was felted, look at how huge it was compared to what it looks like now...
This blanket is for my ex-step-sister who just had a baby girl. It's made with Red Heart Baby Clouds. I put a purple border on it with Homespun Baby. Nice and washable for the new mom and super soft for the new baby!
My first wearable object! The pattern is from www.chicknits.com, the boatneck shell. It was done in Classic Elite Provence yarn. I didn't like it on at first, but I have grown to absolutely love it!
This sweater is for my best friend's new baby. It looks so tiny! It knit up fast using the pattern from Debbie Bliss's Baby Knits book and Lion Brand Microspun. I will make more of these because they are fairly easy and so cute. Plus, there are so many opportunities for variation!
The baby raglan is in here separately, but this is the entire gift set that I made for my best friend's baby. The ha is also from Debbie Bliss and the booties are from 50 Baby Booties to knit. It is all made from Microspun.
I made this for my younger step-sister. It's a bit smaller than a regular Suki, so I call it Suki Jr. I forgot to take a picture of it post-felting but she calls it her cat in the hat bag.
I made this for a friend with Lion Brand Boucle and just haven't gotten it in the mail yet (oops).
My first sweater. It definitely has it's issues, like the fact that it's made of wool so will probably not come out of my closet that often, but it's mine and proved to me that I could do it. It's made with some Brown Sheep Country Classic in Grape from a Vogue Knitting pattern.
I made this scarf for my friend Steph in Noro Silk Garden. The colors are a bit more subtle in real life but I love the variety of color in one item.
I made this scarf for my sister for Christmas. It's made from a free pattern at straw.com of one strand of Musique and one strand of Fizz held together. She seemed to like it.
I made these for a friend at work because her baby had outgrown the little baby mitts they sell at the store but still had a need for them. They are made from Microspun. Hopefully I can remember enough of the pattern to make them for future babies in my life. Cute and easy!
This was a present for my mother in law for Christmas. It is made of Inca Alpaca in a seed stitch pattern and is so soft.
This hat is a bit lose, which almost resulted in a trip to the frog pond, but the cute factor saved it. It was my first time to work with Calmer and I can't wait to make a summer tank or short sleeved sweater out of it.
My first pair of socks made with Regia Stretch in Clown from Wendy's toe-up sock pattern.
This is just a closer picture of the Ribby Shell, so you can see the ribbed pattern a bit better.
I made this by morphing a few patterns. Chicknits now has a pattern for a shell similar to this. The black yarn faded something crazy, so I don't wear it that often, since I usually wear black pants at work. But, I'd like to make another version of this shell.
Here is my Birch worn at my friend's wedding. I made it more rectangular rather than triangular. It is made of Kidsilk Haze. It was my first big lace project and took me a while to get the hang of it, but was a great thing once I did.
This was made from a vogue knitting pattern. I'm now calling it "the tank that will not be worn outside". It is not very flattering. I made it out of microspun.
This is my bucket hat that I did for Skinny Rabbit Becky's Bucket along from Chicknit's bucket hat pattern. I made it with cottontots yarn.
This pattern is Bad Penny from Knitty. I made it with some yarn from my secret pal, chris knits, and some leftover microspun I had along the edges. It sold me on top-down patterns.
Here's Audrey laid out on my breakfast nook floor. This is probably the finished product I am most proud of to date.
Here's Audrey "on". The only thing I would change would be to make it just about an inch longer. It's not major enough to change it, but it's a reminder to make things longer!
This is here just as a reminder to me that it is a finished object. The picture is really bad, but it's a maroon harlot poncho.
Just a cute little cross-stitched Gingerbread Man ornament that I attached to a Christmas gift.
This is the scarf I made for my sister for Christmas, without the fringe. I waited and fringed it when I was with her so she could tell me how she wanted it. She really liked it.
This was made for my mom's friend for Christmas. I made it with Cascade 220. The glitch came in when the handles came out way too long. I cut them and punched holes in the bag and strung them through. It turned out okay, but could have been better.
I knit these dishcloths for my step-mother who told me that she really liked cotton dishcloths that had been given to her by one of her family members. I just used different stitch patterns and made them to the desired size.
I made this with some leftover Cascade 220. I had it left from my small Suki back. I love it!
My mom has made everyone in the family stockings, so she taught me to make one. I made my first one for T-bone, the family schnauzer.
This is a sweater that I made for my friend's little girl. It is made out of Microspun. The pattern is from a Sirdar book that I got from my secret pal, Chrisknits.
Here's the back of Alexa's sweater. I did the flowers straight across the back with two little spastic flowers on the front.
I bought a strapless dress for a wedding and really wanted a mini-sweater to go over it, both for warmth and so I wouldn't have to worry about how the dress was sitting all the time. The pattern is another brilliant one from Stef at Glampyre. I made it without the puffy sleeves because puffy sleeves just aren't me. It probably needs to be tighter around the bottom so I should have decreased before the ribbed rows.
This is my Clapotis, made from Blue Moon yarn obtained at MD Sheep and Wool 2005. It's very much a summer type shawl, or a Houston winter scarf.
These are the Koigu socks I made for my sockapaltwoza pal. They were a pretty basic pattern, but turned out well.
Gabby is a poodle who hunts deer with my father in law, so I obviously needed to make her a camoflauged dog sweater with a flower on it! This was one of her Christmas gifts. If I were to make it again, I would make it a little bit longer.
As one of my first sewing projects, I hemmed the curtains we got at IKEA for the husband's office.
These pillows were my first sewing project, using fabric leftover from hemming the husband's curtains and black fleece fabric.
